Jason Markowicz, CEO: Fitness Premier provides high-quality health clubs in local markets with a focus on results-oriented programming such as personal training, nutrition services, and recovery/wellness programs to provide a complete solution to help people feel their best! We are all about support, encouragement, and making fitness FUN to help our members look forward to coming back to our facilities!

SMB: What makes your service offering unique in today’s market?

Jason: Our people are what makes our offering unique. We have team members in our locations who genuinely care and are available to service our clients’ unique needs related to any goal they might have related to their fitness journey. We also have world-class relax & restore suites that we are putting within every location that helps make it more than just fitness. It’s about recovering and feeling your best physically, mentally, and emotionally.

The Relax & Restore Experience

SMB: How do you maintain service quality standards across locations?

Jason: We do a ton of training and development with our teams. Every location runs on EOS and has a very consistent cadence of training within their locations. At the home office, we run weekly calls, monthly masterminds, and quarterly leadership meetings to keep the team in the loop on everything and continue developing both personally and professionally. Our focus is on building great leaders and relationships and having those leaders build the business within each location.

SMB: What inspired you to franchise your business?

Jason: We were operating our own locations for nearly two decades before we started franchising, so it was a sort of natural progression for us to really expand our growth plan. We wanted to give others the opportunity to own their own fitness facility that had the same passion for fitness, leadership, and people. We always believe that we can grow at the rate we can attract and partner with great people.

SMB: Why did you partner with SMB Franchise Advisors?

Jason: We wanted to expand and grow responsibly at a steady pace. SMB had the knowledge, resources, and connections to point us in the right direction. They have a great leadership team and culture within their company. They have been great partners for us.

SMB: How many locations did you have before SMB? How many have you grown since partnering with SMB?

Jason: 17 and now 24 (open or to be opened).

SMB: What are your long-term goals for your franchise? How many locations do you hope to grow to?

Jason: 50 in the next 36 months.

Franchisee Qualities, Training, and Relationships

SMB: What qualities do you look for in successful franchisee candidates?

Jason: Someone with great leadership skills, a passion for helping others succeed & fitness. Leadership, people, and sales skills are the most important for us in addition to total alignment with our core values.

SMB: What makes your franchisee training program unique?

Jason: We’re very hands-on with our leadership, development, and training programs. It’s constant and ever-evolving including weekly leadership calls, monthly mastermind development groups, quarterly franchisee huddle meetings, and Next Level Executive training sessions. We’re constantly challenging each other and rolling up our sleeves in an effort to stay sharp and improve our effectiveness as individuals and as an organization.

SMB: How do you help franchisees build strong client relationships?

Jason: We do this by coaching them to be extremely active and involved in their community. It starts with great relationships and really caring about their clients’ success. From there, all types of opportunities present themselves.

SMB: What advice do you have for business owners looking to franchise?

Jason: Find a great concept in an industry you are very passionate about, and make sure you fall in love with the leadership of that company. Franchising is like a marriage for a period of time, and you want to make sure you check all the boxes.

SMB: Is there anything else you would like us to share about your brand?

Jason: We are excited about our future and think we have a unique approach to health & wellness where we put a product out there that really serves our members’ unique needs. Our leadership team has been on all sides of franchising as franchisors, area developers, and franchisees. We believe the model has to work for all sides to be a great long-term relationship.
