In a few sentences, can you describe what your brand does and what your company is all about?
Renovation Sells, the nation’s fastest-growing presale renovation company, is changing how real estate is sold by delivering updates that position homes to sell fast and for more. Expanding through franchising, Renovation Sells is becoming a community partner and household name to real estate agents across the country. With custom design that today’s buyers demand, construction, and financing, Renovation Sells makes it simple for homeowners to unlock equity by getting their homes move-in ready without the high-end cost, effort, or timetable of typical renovations. On average, projects are completed in as little as three weeks at approximately $27,000. We are committed to providing agents and their home sellers with fast, beautiful, turnkey renovations carried out by someone they personally know and trust.
Why did you choose to franchise your business?
After initial success in Chicago, we knew we had to bring our much-needed services to communities across the country. Managing a national construction company was not appealing to us and we recognized that both real estate agents and home sellers need a local point of contact that they can personally know and trust. Essentially, every town needed a “Mike”. We knew that franchising and local ownership was critical to achieving the quality of service and execution that Renovation Sells stands for.
Why did you choose to partner with SMB Franchise Advisors?
We had a product-market fit, but we did not know one thing about franchising! We knew we needed an expert to shepherd us through the initial setup and connect us with the right people to propel Renovation Sells forward. We were introduced to Steve at SMB through a cold contact and after an initial phone call and in-person meeting, we hit the ground running.
How many units did you have before SMB, and how have you grown following the partnership? Can you provide some details about your brand’s growth and development? Franchise growth in Q1 2023?
We had 1 corporate-owned location prior to partnering with SMB. We signed our first franchise in October of 2021 and we just signed our 35th franchise location recently. We plan to hit 60 owners by the end of 2023.
What advice do you have for people looking to franchise?
It is a close-knit industry and we have found that players in the franchise world genuinely want to help each other. Creating, growing, and perfecting a franchise system is not easy. It takes time and constant pivots; but, it is extremely rewarding to watch entrepreneurs live out their lifelong dreams of business ownership, all while promoting a brand across the country that was your creation.
