Five Things I Wish I Knew Before Franchising My Business
Steve Beagelman had the opportunity to speak with Cynthia Corsetti on things he wished he had known before launching his franchise. For those of you reading this and getting to know Steve, he franchised his brand Black Tie Express while he was in college over 30 years ago.
One of the main takeaways was summed up in this quote:
“Be prepared to work hard — starting to franchise your business is a new business unto itself that will need a certain level of your time and attention.“
Steve explained that business owners who expand into a franchise are no longer just the brand founders – they become the franchise founders – and need to convert their efforts and energy instead in these three areas:
- training and supporting franchisees
- being willing to give up control of running the day to day operations
- devoting time and attention needed in the franchise company
